Who is Parents of EUSD (aka “PoE”)?
PoE is a group of community members in Encinitas and South Carlsbad – it includes district parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, friends, allies, and more. We came together in the lead up to the 2024 election because we were alarmed at some of the discriminatory rhetoric we had witnessed at school board meetings and promoted by a candidate running for school board. Since then, we’ve developed into a grassroots organization with the mission of uniting neighbors to protect high-quality public education for every kid in EUSD.
What does PoE do?
We are working locally to strengthen our community and to foster a school district where all students, teachers, and staff can thrive. To this end, we’re committed to:
Keeping you up to date with all things EUSD: We’ll attend school board meetings and send out recaps, highlight things to celebrate in the district, and alert you to action items.
Fostering community among families and allies in our district: We’ll arrange periodic family-friendly meetups, curate and distribute parenting and education-related resources (like this Guardian article about the attack on public education and this podcast episode about kids sports), and ask for your input about what is important about public education to you.
Supporting our schools and educators: We’ll alert you to opportunities to help, provide input, and more.
